Places & Things We Sometimes Forget To Organize

One Month Down…Eleven More to Go!

We’re one month into the new year, and hopefully, you’ve met a few of your home organizational goals last month. If not, congratulations, you’re human, and life will go on. Besides, Home Perspective is here to help! This business was created to offer the kind of assistance I wish I had when I needed a hand to organize my home.

That’s why I’m writing this blog post to remind you of some places and things you may have overlooked. For every junk drawer, there are most likely similar versions in other places around and outside your home. The middle console or glove compartment in your car. The side pocket (or any pockets) in your purse or bookbag. Should I go on?

My guess is nope, so I’ll get down to business. Keep reading to see the list.

Did You Remember to Organize These Things?

Purse, Backpack, Messenger Bag, or Briefcase

Organizing your purse, backpack, messenger bag, or briefcase can help you stay on top of things and reduce stress. Start by emptying your bag completely. This will allow you to see what you have in there and get rid of any unnecessary items. Sort your items into categories such as essentials, work items, personal items, and trash. This will help you keep things organized and make it easier to find what you need. Consider investing in organizers such as pouches, folders, or dividers to help keep items in their designated categories. This will make it easier to find things quickly and keep your bag clutter-free.

Digital Spaces

Cell phones and computers need help, too. In fact, taking the time to organize your digital devices can keep you focused and sane. In today's digital age, it's especially important to stay organized and keep your devices in order. Start by decluttering your devices. Delete any unnecessary apps, files, and emails that are taking up valuable space. Organize your apps into folders based on their function or category. This will make it easier to find what you need quickly. Use cloud storage to backup important files and documents. This will not only free up space on your device but also ensure that your data is safe in case of a device malfunction or loss. Keep your devices up to date with the latest software and security updates. This will ensure that they run smoothly and are protected from potential threats.

Socks and Underwear Drawer

Keeping your socks and underwear drawer organized is a great way to save time when getting dressed. It also helps ensure that you always have clean and matching items to wear. Sort through your socks and underwear to see which items you no longer wear or are worn out. Discard or donate these items. Try separating your socks and underwear into categories, such as athletic socks, dress socks, boxers, briefs, etc. Add drawer dividers or small baskets to keep your items separated and organized. Fold your socks neatly and pair them up so that they are easy to find and grab. You can also use sock clips or rings to keep your socks together. Fold your underwear in a similar fashion, either by folding it in half or rolling it up. Place your socks and underwear in your drawer by category, making sure to keep like items together for easy access.

Car and Garage

Oh yeah, the car and garage (if you have one) are on this list also. Tackle any clutter, sort through all of the items, and decide which ones you want to keep, donate, sell, or dispose of. Invest in storage solutions such as shelving units, cabinets, and pegboards to maximize space and keep items off the floor. Overhead storage racks can also be a great option to store bulky items such as seasonal decorations or sports equipment. Categorize your items and store them accordingly. For example, keep all your gardening tools in one area and your car maintenance supplies in another. This will make it easier to find what you need when you need it. Use labels or color-coding to help you quickly identify where specific items are stored. This can be especially helpful for smaller items such as nuts and bolts. Remember to leave enough space for your car to fit comfortably in the garage. Avoid stacking boxes or storing items in a way that obstructs your vehicle or makes it difficult to maneuver.

Sports Equipment

If you are someone who enjoys sports or physical activities, then you know how important it is to have your equipment organized and easily accessible. Not only does it make it easier for you to find what you need, but it also helps to keep your equipment in good condition by preventing damage or loss. Create a designated space (think closet, garage, or spare room) for your sports equipment. This will help to keep everything together and prevent it from getting scattered throughout the house. Invest in storage solutions that can help you keep your equipment organized. Consider purchasing shelves, hooks, or a storage rack to keep everything in its place. Sort by activity to make it easier to find what you need. For example, keep all of your soccer equipment together and separate it from your basketball or tennis gear. Don’t forget to add labels where they make sense and keep the area clean to keep equipment in good condition and prevent odors from building up.
